Maintain.

Keep it simple: brush or hose off loose debris, then wash with clean water, mild soap and a soft brush or cloth, and rinse. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, bleach and abrasive cleaning tools as they can damage the fabric and may affect your warranty. A rinse a couple of times a year is generally plenty for most sails.

At least once a year. Fabrics settle after installation, so an annual re-tension keeps the sail firm, sheds water and prevents any flapping which will cause wear on the sail. Wind the turnbuckles to a firm (not extreme) tension, then re-lock the nuts. Our tensioning guide shows how.

Our warranties cover genuine defects in materials and workmanship. They do not cover incorrect measurements, improper installation, storm or extreme weather damage, misuse or lack of routine maintenance. The workmanship workmanship warranty runs for the same period as your fabric (10–15 years). Full details are available on the warranty pages.

Usually not. Fabrics naturally settle over time, so a little natural stretch is normal. This can be fixed with your annual re-tension, and is not a defect. Re-tension the turnbuckles evenly to bring the sail taut and wrinkle-free.

Contact us within 90 days of noticing the issue with a written description, clear photos, and your proof of purchase. We'll assess it and, where it's a covered defect, repair or replace the sail. Start via contact us or the help centre page.

Yes. Many people remove sails over winter or before storm season. Store it clean and dry, folded flat (webbing-edge sails fold especially neatly) in a dry location. Remember to re-grease your hardware before installing it again.

Our HDPE fabrics are breathable and dry quickly, so they resist mould far better than solid covers. However organic matter like leaves or bird mess left sitting on the sail can lead to surface mildew. Regularly completing a quick clean will help prevent this.

For genuine workmanship or material defects within warranty, we'll repair or replace — start a claim via contact us. For accidental damage outside warranty (storm tears, mishaps), a local canvas or shade repairer is often the quickest solution. If the damage is extensive, a replacement Shade Sail may be the best option.

Well-maintained, many years - our fabrics carry a 10–15 year warranty and the SolarFix® PTFE thread is rated 15–25 years, so with regular cleaning, periodic re-tensioning, and routine inspections this will help maximise its life. See why our thread lasts.

You can re-use a sail on new fixing points as long as the new mounting point layout matches the original measurements. If the edges, diagonals, or mounting heights are different, the sail is unlikely to fit or tension correctly, and a new custom sail is usually the better option.

At your seasonal check, look over the shackles, turnbuckles, mounting hardware and wire for wear or corrosion. Make sure lock nuts are still tight, and re-grease threads if you re-tension the sail. Marine-grade stainless 316 hardware (which we supply) needs very little care, but a quick look keeps everything safe.

All our HDPE fabrics are UV-stabilised for long colour life, so fade is gradual and slow. Some softening of colour over many years of full sun is normal for any outdoor fabric and isn't a defect. Darker fabrics generally hold their full colour longest.

Consider replacing it if the fabric becomes brittle or thin, stitching fails outside warranty, or it no longer tensions. Unsure?

A correctly installed and tensioned Shade Sail is designed to withstand everyday wind. If severe storms or gale-force winds are forecast, remove the sail to help protect both the fabric and your mounting points, and storm damage isn't covered by warranty.
